We are currently seeking an individual to fill the position of Accountant based in our Toronto office.
Job Description
Reporting to the CFO, the Accountant works collaboratively with finance, administrative and consulting teams in managing the day to day general accounting. The Accountant contributes to and ensures the completion of a diverse range of accounting duties including general accounting, reporting, cash management, payables/receivables management, bank reconciliation, HST filing and expense management. The current ERP system is Deltek Vision and there is a planned implementation/upgrade to Vantage Point within a year. The successful candidate for this role will be required to work 3 days/week at the Lord Cultural Resources Toronto office.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
General Accounting
- Work with the accounting team to reconcile employee expense accounts, out-of-pocket expenses, company credit card statements and expense reports
- Process accounts payable, supplier payments and reconcile bank accounts;
- Follow up for accounts receivable and send monthly client statements of accounts;
- Filing HST returns an asset;
- Work with the CFO in completion of month-end and year-end reports;
- Work with the accounting team in preparing year-end schedules and reports for the annual review;
- Develop and compile financial analysis and reports on a regular basis;
- Assist with project accounting duties such as setting-up projects in ERP system, budgeting, invoicing, maintaining professional relationships with clients and follow up for receivables in consultation with project managers, among other;
- Update internal control documents;
- Other accounting tasks as needed.
Reporting
- Maintain monthly revenue, expense, and cash flow forecasts;
- Prepare financial reports for the Management and financial institutions on a regular basis;
- Other reports as needed.
General Administration and other Responsibilities
- Work with the CFO and the Project Accountant in maintaining ERP system.
- Administrative tasks such as responding to information requests, completion of timesheets;
- Professional development that will further your personal knowledge and credibility;
- Develop and maintain trusted and collaborative relationships with internal clients and colleagues;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The qualified candidate must be a self-starter, and a motivated, committed and adaptable team player. You must be detail oriented, organized, and quality conscious, have impeccable time management skills, and have a genuine enthusiasm for museums, culture, and the arts.
Other key qualifications include:
- College diploma or University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline and/or equivalent applicable experience;
- 5+ years’ experience in General Accounting (A/P, A/R, Invoicing, Payments, Collections, General Ledger maintenance and analysis, Month-end and Year-end schedules and closings) and with at least 3 years working independently in a Professional Services business;
- Proficiency working with a time billing system (Vantage Point experience preferred);
- Process improvement and change management experience considered an asset;
- Understanding of financial statements and chart of accounts set up;
- Experience with accounts reconciliation and analysis and working with multiple currencies;
- Proven client service orientation;
- Exceptional English verbal and written communication skills (additional languages an asset);
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook), including advanced experience using MS Excel;
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines;
- Ability to create great working relationships at all levels within the company;
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
