TThe Planet MTL Urban Ecosystem Exhibition was a finalist for the 2018 GLAMi Award in the category of Exhibition Media or Experience: In-Gallery Interactive.

Lord Cultural Resources worked with NGX Interactive, Expographiq, and WeatherstonBruer Associates to create this innovative, educational exhibition designed to immerse visitors in learning about Urban Ecosystems.

The Nordic Museum in Seattle opened its doors for the first time on May 5th. The Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, Dagfinn Høybråten, along with the Danish crown princess, the Icelandic President, Guðni Th. Jóhannesson, Jorodd Asphjell MP (NO) of the Nordic Council and the Nordic ambassadors to the United States attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the official opening of the new museum.

The CASCADE awards recognize the outstanding people, programs and exhibits in Canada's science centres, museums, aquariums and planetariums. Among the finalists in the category "Best Exhibition or Show - Large Institution" is Planet MTL, which opened at Montreal's Biosphere on June 1^st, 2017.

The first regularly circulated Canadian bank note to feature a human rights theme was unveiled on Thursday March 8^th, International Women’s Day. The $10 bill displays a portrait of human rights defender Viola Desmond, and on the reverse an image of Lord project, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR).

The Soft Power Destinations Awards recognize soft power best practice in cultural destinations.

Gail Lord was invited to appear on a panel before the Canadian House of Commons’ Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage to speak and answer questions about the state of Canadian museums. Her panel included Hon. Eva Aariak, (President, Inuit Heritage Trust Incorporated) and William Beveridge (Executive Director, Inuit Heritage Trust Incorporated). The Committee is planning to undertake a study to review the state of Canadian museums, with a focus on local and community museums.

Gail discussed the reinvention of museums, how are they facing their colonial roots, and connecting with communities at TVO’s The Agenda with Steve Paikin, along with Silvia Forni, Gordon Shadrach and Andrew Hunter.

The American Institute of Architects NY (AIANY) has announced its 2018 Design Awards Recipients, and recognized 2 Lord Projects. Each winning project is chosen for its design quality, response to its context and community, program resolution, innovation, thoughtfulness, and technique. 

The Lord US team was invited by our friends at ESI to attend the topping off ceremony for the Statue of Liberty Museum yesterday. "Topping off" is refered to the uppermost girder of the structure when is laid.
